It's that time of the year again for a little March Madness and your wine loving friends at Wine Spectator are here for it...they have officially launched their First Annual March Madness: Battle of the Bottles on their Instagram.

How It Works

The rules are simple: Head to Wine Spectator’s Instagram Stories daily to vote for the bottles you want to see advance. The matchups are fierce, and while the official voting criteria remain a mystery, we do have a schedule to keep us on track:

🔹 3/24 Monday – Round of 32

🔹 3/25 Tuesday – Sweet 16

🔹 3/26 Wednesday – Elite 8

🔹 3/27 Thursday – Final 4

🔹 3/28 Friday – Championship

🔹 3/29 Saturday – Winner Revealed

Since Wine Spectator hasn’t provided official voting guidelines, I’m rolling with my own system:

🍾 Sparkling Bias – If you’ve ever shared a glass with me, you know my love for top-tier bubbly runs deep. The grapes behind the world’s finest sparkling wines will definitely have my vote.

💰 Commercial Value – Which grape variety has a strong global presence and market demand?

🍷 Utility & Application – Versatility matters! Can the grape shine in multiple styles and pair well with a variety of dishes?

👅 Personal Enjoyment – Let’s be real—some wines just speak to me more than others. If it’s a favorite, it’s getting my vote!
